Welcome

With the recent boom in cycling, the aim of the Jayco Flyers was to gather a group of people who loved their time in the bike saddle. Many of the team are sporting personalities and celebrities with years of experience.

Without being traffic cops, the Jayco Flyers to a degree are role models, all attempting to set a safe example – trucks, cars, motorbikes and push bikes can survive with “no rage on the roads”.

The ability to ride safely in a group is always a challenge, but with pro riders prepared to mix with the Jayco Flyers, the right message is there.

You’ll see plenty of blue Jayco Flyer kits flash past in major events throughout the year – the Jayco / Herald Sun Tour Celebrity Race, the Amy Gillett, Bendigo on Wheels, Ballarat, Around the Bay are all drawcards for our high profile performers.

Weekly rides, longer monthly outings…. then, an end of year charity ride will keep this group fit and in form.

All money raised by these rides will assist families of cyclists traumatized or killed in accidents involving bicycles.

DUNSTALL DEFEATS A SHAKY FRAWLEY.

It was billed the biggest pound for pound battles seen on a bike – long retired footy warriors Jason Dunstall and Danny Frawley in a 3 lap sprint for massive bragging rights at Hisense Arena.

Fullforward v Fullback, “the Chief” v “Spud” and the Triple M / Foxsport lads didn’t let the crowd down.

Having slipped into their Jayco Flyers kits, the 2 champs cruised into their work…. starting low on the track, they gradually found some height and speed on the boards and with a lap to go Dunstall knew he had to push Frawley and lift the tempo.

The ex-Hawk made good ground….  in fact, Dunstall kicked away leaving Frawley with a tough sprint home and despite a desperate and shaky charge, the Ballarat boy couldn’t haul the Hawthorn spearhead in.

A victory in training and another top performance at the “Revolution” event gave Jason the perfect record over his old mate.

Five thousand dollars was raised for the Michael Forbes Foundation and the Ballarat Cancer Research Centre.

And several Jayco Flyers will be involved in the 58th. running of Australia’s oldest stage cycling race – the Jayco Herald Sun Tour.

The Tour will start in Ballarat on Sunday 11th. October and move through Colac, Warrnambool, Apollo Bay, Anglesea, Barwon Heads and Geelong before hitting Melbourne for a twilight final stage circuit race on Lygon Street on the 17th. October.

The course will be another amazing promotion for country Victoria with a solid ride along the Great Ocean Road (15 teams – 105 in the field). For more information go to www.heraldsuntour.com.au/
